Endeavor to Grasp Revelation:

This is no mere curiosity. It is not a puzzle and it is not for the faint of heart. Do not join us expecting just a series of uplifting aphorisms or false promises of prosperity. Do not seek rationalizations for sin in this study. You will find no affirmations for cowardice in this sacred text, only heavenly compulsions to conquer. You must have ears to hear what the Spirit said to the churches, or these holy and enigmatic words will evade you. This is the Book of Revelation.

“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it, because the time is near (Revelation 1:3, CSB).” The most notoriously difficult book of the Bible to interpret is also the only book to contain such a promised blessing just for hearing it read. While I am no prosperity teacher, I can stand unflinchingly on Scripture and tell you that you will be blessed if you join The Redemption Church in our current series in the Book of Revelation.

Be warned, though. Our approach to Scripture holds absolutely nothing back from the Word of God. Those who want to be placated in their sin find it repulsive. Those who know they need the GRACE find repentance and truth. You know what? This may not be the right audience. I mean, it’s an article on the internet and everyone is on the internet. Frankly, not many people care what God actually said in His Word these days, so this may not be for you. I would write “nevermind” at this point…but then again, you’re still reading. So, let’s do this.

Step into the blessing of the Revelation, not “Revelations,” of Jesus Christ. Behold the epic ending to the story of redemption. Spoiler: it all ends in the eternal glory of God. We will study the most hope-inspiring words ever written. “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away (Revelation 21:4, CSB).” We will also study what comes four verses later, “But the cowards, faithless, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars—their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death (Revelation 21:8).” In fact, we will study every blessed and perfect verse of the entire book together; combining our sermons, small group curriculum, and daily devotions to apply our lives to every word of Revelation and we will worship together every day for the three days following Easter Sunday.

Endeavor to behold the culmination of God’s complete Word. Step into the mystery and see Jesus as He currently is. See His own account of the day He is coming back. That drawing on your heart to grasp the Book of Revelation must be the Holy Spirit of God bringing you into His Word. Otherwise, you would have been too offended by this article to finish it.

See you Sunday.
